The last issue's Style @ Strathclyde Winner was Kirsten Frost, with an overwhelming majority that David Cameron would be jealous of - a whopping 52.1% of the vote!

Affiliation to NUS costs £49,000 annually but allows the USSA to have government-recognised representation at national level and cheaper drink prices, thanks to a bulk buying policy amongst NUS’s 600 member institutions.
Of those who voted, 422 said ‘yes’ and 79 said ‘no’, the majority of the latter being 4th year engineers according to former USSA President Neil Campbell, who ran the ‘Yes’ campaign.
Speaking after the election, Neil said, “I'm delighted by the result and I don't think there was ever any doubt that the students of Strathclyde would say yes to NUS, an organisation that we've always played a big part in.

BAAM in the Gardens: Photostream
On Friday May 7, whilst University Court was in session, a group of musician's from the University's precarious BA Applied Music course performed in Rottenrow Gardens. Story to follow.

STUDENTS and staff were evacuated from the University’s library building on Thursday April 29 amid reports of a bomb scare.The Andersonian library was cleared at around 9am this morning with police – accompanied by sniffer dogs – called to the scene.
The building reopened to students at 3pm, with staff allowed back in beforehand to be briefed.
Success at BUCS for Boat Club
A HIGHLY successful year for the boat club was extended in Nottingham at the BUCS 2010 regatta. After winning the University winter league and taking second place in the Scottish University Championships and Scottish Indoor Championships a small group made the long journey south for the biggest student rowing regatta in Europe with over 4000 competitors.
The weather was nothing short of terrible with strong winds whipping up huge waves that rolled the length of the course and at many points racing was suspended to allow storms of hailstones to pass.
Saturday saw Chris Rae take Bronze in the championship single scull putting him in contention for a possible place at the European University Championships. Chris is a member of the GB Rowing World Class Start (WCS) Programme along with another Strathclyde athlete competing on Saturday, Mike McLaren who was unlucky not to progress any further from his heat.

STRATHCLYDE University’s Bachelor of Arts in Applied Music (BAAM) is a “flagship” course that senior management must protect, a former Strathclyder has told the Telegraph.
Colin Broom, a graduate who was also a lecturer in music at Strathclyde for five years, urged the University to safeguard a “unique identity in music education” that continues to feed the industry with talented professionals.
Plans to axe the BAAM course - which attracts in excess of 400 applicants annually - were announced earlier this year, provoking widespread anger among past and present students.
“If the BAAM course was folded, the music industry would no doubt continue, but a very significant door to that industry would be closed, and the University of Strathclyde would have lost what I feel is essentially a flagship course,” said Colin.
